What makes Sunshine Yoga MGM different?
We're small on purpose. You won't get lost in a big, impersonal studio here - you'll get a teacher who knows your name; a quiet room filled with natural light and trees outside the window; and a community that feels more like a family than a fitness class.
Do I need to be flexible or have any yoga experience?
Not even a little! Sunshine Yoga MGM welcomes every body and every level - whether it is your first class or your 500th. We move gently, so you can go at your pace. There's no such thing as doing it wrong here.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself! The studio is equipped with yoga mats, blocks and blankets. Many people prefer to bring their own mat to class, but there are plenty available to borrow at no extra cost to you.
What should I wear?
Anything comfortable that lets you move freely. Leggings, loose pants, soft t-shirts - whatever feels good on your body. No special "yoga clothes" required.
Do I need to book ahead or can I drop in?
Drop-ins are always welcome! That said, if you want to guarantee your spot, a quick heads-up ahead of time never hurts.
How early should I arrive?
Aim for about 10 minutes before the start of class. That gives you time to park, locate the room, grab a mat, and settle in without rushing. Plus, it gives you a few minutes to chat with your new yoga friends.
I have an injury or health condition, can I still practice?
Absolutely. Yoga is one of the most adaptable practices out there, and every pose can be modified to meet your body where it is. Just let your instructor know before class so we can make suggestions for the best modifications for you. When in doubt, always check with your doctor too.
Is this a Christian practice, since classes are held at a church?
Not at all. While our home is at a church, our yoga is a non-religious practice - open and welcoming to all belief systems. There's no chanting, no religious rituals, and nothing hidden or "extra" beyond the yoga itself - just gentle movement, breath, and stillness. Many people do feel a sense of spirituality in the quiet moments of yoga, but you can expect exactly what you came for: yoga and nothing more.
